For cleaning parts with rubber use:

stoddards solvent, the kind that's in parts washers like 'Safty Kleen'.
It doesn't seem to have any noticable adverse effects on rubber.

Stoddard solvent is the same thing as mineral spirits or aliphatic naptha.
The term "stoddard solvent" is typically used in dry cleaning, but it's all the same
stuff.
